Good first time modifications

More air in/more air out--absolutely the first modification any new '03 4.0L Jeep needs is more air.... My new Rubicon was extremely impressive in stock form; however it couldn't breathe at all. I'm sure you know the feeling, "you press the pedal and it jumps out of the gate only to fade more and more as you accelerate; and if you back out of the throttle it's like the brakes are on". The best quick fix in the business is an Airaid "air intake system" ($170) and a Gale Banks Performance "Stinger system" ($269). The Airaid system simply replaces the factory air box and attaches using the factory mount points. The Banks "Stinger" is a direct fit replacement for the factory muffler and tail pipe. Both these system absolutely "fit like a glove" and can be installed in an afternoon, if you have a few tools and the inclination. The result feels like an additional 25 horsepower, makes the Jeep much more pleasant to drive, and really sounds nice. All in all, the best $500 (including beer) you can spend....
